We don't train for show...We train for response.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here at Painted Rock Ranch we take a gentle approach to training.  No colt is ever started with spurs.  No gimmicks, no harsh bits.  The horses are not pushed and therefore they learn much quicker and the results tend to last.  The horse is much more confident, consistant in his performance, light and supple in your hands, and responds lightly to your cues.
We have taken a horse to his first show and a 1st place win in the APHA in trail with as little as only 8 weeks under saddle training.  Not because he was pushed, but because of the gentle training techniques that we aply.   ( This includes lots of groundwork)   Drake was taken to his first show after only 90 days under saddle training.  He received a 1st in trail also.  (No one could believe he was only two and that he was a stallion, as quiet and responsive as he was)  Of course this is not typical of all horses as they are all different, and some learn faster than others, but all horses can be trained and taught to be better performers in this manner.
It is my philosophy that "It is a whole lot easier to cut butter than it is to plow a field".
What I mean by this is that a horse can move his own body a whole lot easier than you can, if you have to push and pull him around every where you want him to go.  Once he gains trust and respect for a person through lots of ground work, he can then gain confidence in himself, become a willing partner, then learn to respond to you in a soft and willing manner.  With repetition, his movements will be so soft it will be like cutting butter as opposed to plowing.
SERVICES OFFERED INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
        (instead of plowing)
Gina Biesenbach's first experience with horses has made her really appreciate a well trained and well mannered one.  She strives to perfect both, her gentle training techniques and the quality of the finished horse.
Her first experience with  horses was in the 8th grade when she and her sister recieved a horse for Christmas.  He was a wild two year old stallion straight out of the pasture, never handled by humans.  Wow some Christmas present.  He was gelded and her father broke the horse as best he knew how.  The horse never was really quite right.  He would run away with the rider at every opportunity, spook at every little thing, and fight tooth and nail at every step of the way.
Does this sound familiar?
Starting in October of 2004 Gina is opening her doors to the training of outside horses as she sees the need for horses that are much more relaxed, respectful, and responsive with their owners.
TESTIMONIALS
"The 1st time I saw Gina working with her 2 year old stallion (Drake) in the round pen I was absolutely floored to find out he was so young and not gelded.  She was sitting on her young horse with only a saddle and no briddle and he was so relaxed, attentive, and eager to please her every subtle request. Then we chatted away for 20 or more minutes and he never moved. I have personally watched her work with my 2 year old green belgian. She has taken her from a totally goofy, unattentive, and sometimes very bossy mare to a calm, more attentive and respectful horse that I will confidently be able to ride in just a matter of weeks. I have told her more than once she has the patience of a saint! You can rest assured your horse will be in gentle and competent hands with Gina!"~ J Mills  Floresville, TX
